The Diabetes Advocacy & Awareness Group (DAAG) is a student organization at UC Davis that was founded in 2009 by seven friends who were concerned about the growing diabetes epidemic and wanted to do something about it. DAAG is a relatively small, grassroots effort that calls upon its members to take an active role in serving the community.
We believe that "preventative medicine is the best medicine", so we seek to Educate others, especially children, about nutrition, exercise, and healthy living.
Rather than just donating money to organizations, we prefer that individuals give straight to the source - whether that donation be their money or time. We especially seek to Serve under-resourced and disadvantaged communities within Davis and the Greater Bay Area - although we strive to have a global impact. The DAAG leadership board offers extensive information about volunteer opportunities within Yolo County & the Bay Area.
We provide a forum for individuals to Connect in order to facilitate community, support, and the meaningful exchange of experiences and ideas between those who are or have a loved one dealing with diabetes as well as those working on a solution.
And finally we advocate, fundraise, and always maintain hope for a Cure.
